BERMUDA, WOWWW

Wisconsin was so relaxing—we had the best time just hanging out with Alaric’s family. We ate way too much cheese, went on long walks with their dog Stanley, watched a ton of movies, and soaked up some quality time outdoors.

Of course, we also spent a good chunk of our time prepping for the big move—finalizing paperwork, running last-minute errands, and packing (and repacking) until we managed to fit our lives into two suitcases. And just like that… we were off!

Where to, you ask?
Siri, play “Kokomo” by The Beach Boys.

We landed in the middle of nowhere, totally stoked for the next chapter to begin. After 28 days without diving, we were itching to get back in the water.

Our first month flew by in a blur of errands, account setups, exams, training at both dive shop locations—and of course—securing our new ride: a Honda Dio scooter (yes, we are proud scooter parents). Alaric drives most of the time, so I get to enjoy the view. Our commute runs mostly along the water’s edge, which honestly feels pretty magical. Especially lately, as the rain has picked up, blessing us with rainbows almost daily!

June came and went as we settled into the new norm—unpacking our apartment, learning new dive sites, getting to know our colleagues, figuring out left-side driving, and finding which stores had the cheapest groceries (a critical skill here).

We’ve both been pleasantly surprised by how nice everyone is, how cute our apartment turned out to be, and how awesome our jobs are. We work hard, but diving great sites and being on a boat every day? That’s the dream we’ve been chasing for the past year—so, yes, we’re very happy campers.

The diving at work has been amazing. We’ve been exploring tons of shipwrecks, each with its own fascinating story, along with healthy reefs that are in way better shape than most places around the world. Almost every dive site has cool little swim-throughs, tunnels, or caves that make each dive feel like an adventure. Even better, despite how incredible the diving is here, we’re somehow the only dive boats around—so we usually have the reefs and wrecks all to ourselves. The conditions have been perfect: warm water, great visibility, and barely any swell. We've been super lucky not to deal with any sea sickness thanks to how calm it’s been.

Lately, we’ve even started driving the boat here and there, which is so fun, and we’re getting pretty good at spearing lionfish to bring home for dinner. Alaric’s filleting skills are basically pro-level at this point.

Food prices are jaw-dropping (we seriously miss affordable fresh produce), but we’re making it work. Our apartment has a balcony with sunset views and a pool we love to use on our days off. We also have a nightly visitor—Tommy, a Night Heron, who stops by every evening to say hi and see if we’ll feed him (we don’t).

We’ve found our favorite little coffee shop, which we visit every morning on our days off, and we’ve been exploring hidden beaches around the island—they’re all super chill. The whole island has a relaxed, easygoing vibe we’re really into.

Now that we’re properly settled into our little island life, we’re excited to explore more and soak up everything we can over the next three months.

Enjoy some snapshots from the last two months—and hope you’re all enjoying your summer too :)

As always, stay tuned.
